What is a pedigree? It is a dog's family tree: parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. You can order your puppy's pedigree from AKC for a small charge. The pedigree papers will indicate championship blood lines.
What kind of temperament to Boxers have? They are a loyal, happy and intelligent member of the family. Because he delights in children, we've had no problems with them with our ten grandchildren. Even after a boxer is a grown dog, he still loves to play and thrives on your affection.
Care and maintenance? They do make good house dogs, but need exercise and romps in the park but brushing them often will reduce the shedding of their short hair. They do fine outdoors, but we provide heat and fans for their comfort. Boxers do not like extreme heat or cold. An occasional bath will help to keep your boxer clean and his teeth should be kept clean as he ages. Regular immunization is a must. As dogs age they may develop cancer or heart disease. Hopefully, with regular vet care, your devoted Boxer will live a long and happy life.
What kind of health guarantee do you have? We guarantee your puppy is healthy when it leaves our home.
We allow you 72 hours to have your veterinarian check the puppy over. If he discovers a health problem, we will take your puppy to our Vet. To have it treated until it is healthy and can be returned to you. If it cannot be brought back to good health, we will replace the puppy with one of its siblings or a puppy from our next litter.
We are not responsible for outside veterinarian bills.
What about white boxers? White boxers are not rare, as some would have you to believe. About 20 percent of puppies born are white. Their problem is sometimes they are deaf. We have our white boxers checked for deafness. We have had only 2 deaf white boxers and "adopted" them out without charge. We do not sell deaf puppies. However, a deaf dog can do quite well if it is placed with another dog who can mentor it.
What are "Champion Blood Lines"? It is the dog's 3 or 4 past generations that have been declared "Champion" in a dog show. "Champion" means the dog's owner entered a dog show and the dog won in a particular category, such as obedience, color, physique, agility, etc. There are a lot of dogs capable of winning "Champion" titles, but who have not been in shows, therefore just because a dog doesn't have a Champion Blood Line does not mean he is not a good pet or capable of winning shows.
What colors do boxers come in? Brindle, fawn and white. The color of your puppy is determined by the genes it inherits from its parents. The color has nothing to do with the puppy's personality. Fawns range from a solid fawn color coat to deep tan to mahogany. Brindles have the same fawn color with degrees of black striping. Black boxers do not exist. A black boxer is from a mixed breed.
What does "flashy" mean? Flashy refers to the white markings on the dog.
How big will my boxer be? The boxer is considered to be a medium sized dog. Males stand between 23-25 " and weigh around 70-80 lbs. Females stand about 21-23 inches and weigh about 60-70 lbs. Bigger puppies do not necessarily mean bigger dogs.
How often should a puppy eat? Three meals a day until it is 6 months old, then twice a day is sufficient. Feed your boxer a good quality of dog food (usually kibbled.) Most breeders prefer to soak the food in warm water before feeding or mix it with a little canned dog food. The Boxer grows quickly and does not need vitamins or calcium, which can cause bone or joint problems. Check with your vet about your particular dog.
